About this Mission Project
Cassava fields run alongside the poor dirt road. A woman with a baby on her back heads off to her fields carrying a basket on her head. Her family eats because she farms.
Kimobo Denny belongs to the Baptist women’s group in Kimbata. Her innovative farming and her faith have inspired a whole village to try these new disease resistant cuttings of cassava.
But an innovative spirit needs regular inspiration in order to bear fruit. The Lusekele extension service inspires and serves farmers like Kimobo Denny. Imagine this extension service filled with smart, excited young people ready to help!
$100 gives 1 university student a 5 week internship at Lusekele where they can test their developing skills in a real ministry setting and work alongside experienced extension agents.
$250 provides a travel allowance for Lusekele’s director to recruit interns in person & cultivate future leaders of this vital program.
Mission Project Specifics
This project seeks to raise $3,530 in the next three years to sponsor student internships at the Baptist agricultural development center of Lusekele. This will provide 18 students or recent graduates with a modest stipend of $196 for a six-week internship learning about opportunities in agricultural innovation among traditional semi-subsistence farmers.
This project will be managed by Timothee Kabila, Director of the program. Its goal is to inspire young Christians to put their skills and knowledge to work improving the food security and livelihoods of traditional farmers like Kimobo Denny.
